So, I get gas and head out to pick up Liam as usual. Driving along all happy when I lose a tire. I was pretty sure that's what it was - although there was no loud pop, the road noise and handling was definitely different. Peachy. Begin to make my way over to the right while giving thanks that at least the vehicle is performing well - easy to control and keeping up to freeway speeds with no problem. Oh, look, there's no shoulder because they're doing construction.... okay, well I'll just take this exit here. No room on the side of the road because all the construction vehicles are there. Okay, well there's a little business structure thing, I'll use thier parking lot. Whee!

Stop car and inspect. Rear driver's side tire is definitely gone - little bit of rubber ring left and that's it. Eeep. So I get my purse with my handy AAA card and try to figure out where the doors are on some of these buildings nearby. Find a door and go in... there is no receptionist or anything, just a hallway with elevators and doors. No pay phones in the restroom area... give up and decide to try another building. Someone comes in from outside and nicely points me to the receptionist's office. She lets me call AAA and is helpful as far as cross streets etc since I of course have no idea where I am. Half hour for the tow truck. Peachypie. Out I go to wait, visions of Nate's recent tow truck fiasco in my head. Luckily, they are on time and he figures out I have a spare tire after all. I was looking in the wrong place and didn't think I did. He changes it and tells me it might be a good idea to avoid unnecessary driving until I can have someone look at it to make sure there's no serious damage since I was driving on the rim.

Get home okay - really, I think the car is okay, but will have Nate and/or mechanic double check just in case. It is 2:15, Liam is expecting me to pick him up in another 10-15 minutes. Call Nate & leave message for Stasha to arrange something else. Stasha called me back before I went into full fledge panic to let me know Axis will cover for me. Thank goodness. That relieves alot of the stress. Whew.

So, car is okay for now and may be just fine. Probably will have to buy new tire since the spare is not exactly ideal to drive on - not sure if it's even the same size. Other tires look just fine as far as tread, so I feel okay - it's not like I was asking for a flat, there just must have been something wrong with it since I don't think I hit anything on the road. Liam is taken care of and I think Jennifer is willing to pick me up and drive for tonight so I can still have girlie movie goodness. That would be most welcome right now.

On an up note - my packsomeluff package was waiting for me when I got home. Now that I can take a breath, I think I'm going to go open up pleasant surprises.
