Happy Tuesday updating...

Clipped because of length... mostly aquarium related with some bonus sex thrown in to get your attention....
The mystery fish turned out to be Green Tiger Barbs. They are not meant to be in pairs. So, Monday night we headed out to the *better* fish/aquarium store in Castro Valley. While looking for two more Barbs to add to our tank, Nate fell in love with the big tanks. Ever since we got the fish, he's been thinking about the big tank they had when he was a kid, and to make a long story short, home we came with a 26 gallon tank filled with happy fishy accessories, as well as three regular Tiger Barbs and a Pleco for the algae. We got it inside and determined it wouldn't fit on the dining room hutch (where we'd thought we'd put it) but it goes nicely on the counter between the kitchen and dining room.
So, we got it all plugged in and hooked up, with black gravel and water (including dirty fish water from the store so the neccessary bacteria can grow and thrive quickly) and got it going... added water treatment, set up the divider for when we get the Betta, etc.
This morning I was running a little late, got out the door and as I was driving to the freeway, realized my 9am class was cancelled this week. I wasn't far, so I turned back and had time for a shower and such before I really had to leave. Made for a happy morning - I love realizing I am *not*late*.
Got to school with good parking karma and realized I'd forgotten my books - not a catastrophe but not happy. Turns out I didn't need them anyhow. Class went well and Jay wanted to come see the new fish tank and fishes so I brought him home with me. The one fish was still being a bit of a bully, so I put him in the new tank alone (after testing it and finding the water was comparable to what they're in... would still like to get a lower PH) along with the plant since it got uprooted whilst I was trying to net the fish.
Several hours later he was doing fine, so I went ahead and transferred the rest of the fish and put the decorative rocks and such into the new tank as well. It looks very nice, though still a bit sparse with just one plant and six little bitty fishes. Our next fish purchase will most likely be a couple of Kuhli loaches - probably not for a week or thereabouts, depending on how the water and such are doing. And then a week after that, I shall search for the perfect bettas... a male for the partition and a female or two to join the community fish. Might not get them all at once.
Have been reading lots about fish breeding - verrrrrry interrrrresting. Not sure I'm up for baby fishy care just yet though. I've just found that the best information on preferred environment and fish behavior is stuck in the breeding manuals. In any case, I am happy with the fish and think it will help me wait a while before I *must*have*kittens*to*love* Really, we should have finished unpacking before getting pets, but my beloved wanted them and I just can't tell him no. Heehee... of course, I love them too.
Was tempted to get into a debate with my psych teacher today... we're in a sexuality chapter, and she was saying one of the main differences between men and women is that women are capable of multiple orgasms. Now, I've read quite a few things indicating that men are just as capable although it is less likely to happen "spontaneously" rather than through exploration/training of the body. However, since it's been awhile, I didn't really feel armed to argue the issue, but in retrospect I may use that for my paper I need to write. Not entirely sure how Psychology it is, but it's directly related to a lecture topic and I could probably throw in some "how the mind processes sexual arousal" to make it a little more mental. So I will reread the materials I know of, and probably look online to see if there are any additional resources there. It should be interesting at least :)
Nate and Jay also finally brought in the mini server rack into the computer room so it's not sitting in the entryway/living room anymore. Took a lot of work and dismantling, I'm glad Jay was here to help. Means we can get the house more in order which is a GOOD thing. Didn't get any of that done last night or today, and I expect to be doing schoolwork tomorrow if possible, so prob won't get on it until Thursday afternoon when my weekend begins.
I'd really like to find the digicam so I can take pictures... hopefully the unpacking will turn it up, since I know it's here somewhere. I have fishy and garden goodness to share!
