The Non-Fluff
Jan. 28th, 2002 12:12 pmMeow... sleepy Amycat
Sunday: Did movies with Anh, and it was good. They fed me and we watched Gladiator and Dr. Doolittle... heh, it was mild but fun. She is a little too eager... I think she'd spend 24/7 with me if I'd go for it... but she is such a nice girl, and I really hope I can get her confidence and self-assurance up to a more normal range, so she will be comfortable and not so anxious. So left there at about 5 to go sewing....
Hee, not that I took alot to get done or anything... I finished the last of Cassie's curtains, so those are ready to go back down to Modesto. I mended a pretty red top that a button had come off of... and then I mostly just watched movies and such. Brought books for Rois and also brought When Night is Falling which we watched and both
roisnoir and
horrorvenus liked, so yay :) Stayed til midnightish whereupon it occured to me that perhaps I should sleep before class today and that perhaps Rois might want to sleep before work too... so scurried out into the rain and came home to bed.
Did get up and to school and into class (early even!) which made me happy... Need to pick up film and other photo supplies tonight. Mike brought down Bob's camera for me to borrow for the semester, but I haven't looked at how it works yet. I am hoping this class will be fun. Hee, then I can take delicious
katlynesque photos of my sewing friends at the future sleepovers. Next sleepover tentatively scheduled for March 2-3... I don't know if I should try to make something new for it or just try and get done with some more of my ongoing projects. Need to clean up in here and see what all I have that is "pending", and go from there.
Time for lunching... no sleeping or I will screw my schedule... maybe food will give me energy...

Wow...
Date: 2002-01-28 03:34 pm (UTC)Are you taking a photo class? I don't think I heard about this... how is it going so far? What type of camera are you borrowing? I demand details! *grins*
I've been thinking of enrolling in a few classes again myself to polish some of the rust off of my cameras. I have to admit... it may have been a bad thing to do the Darkthreads photoshoot thingy, because now I want to take pictures again, and I had managed to supress the desire for so long. Heh... and I've relearned some technical skills the hard way with this last batch of pictures (I've been meaning to post about that in my journal but haven't had the time.)

Date: 2002-01-28 04:16 pm (UTC)The camera is a... (fetches camera stuff) Vivitar 450/SLD. If that means anything to you. I know that it is fairly old, but works well, which is what counts for me. I'm borrowing it from a close friend of the family and also have all kinds of toys that came with it... tripod and lenses and filters and flash... whoo, I even just found the manual/book thing! heehee... so once I figure out how to use all this, I expect I'll have good photos... I don't do too badly with regular cameras, esp if I can take complete control of the situation and have a tripod.
The class so far is alright, but we haven't done much. Of course, there've been 2 class sessions and alot of that is finding out who's taking/adding the class, who's dropping, and a bit about what the different parts of the camera do. Today we got to listen to the Top Ten Things Your Professor Has Done That You Never Want to Do... We are supposed to begin actually playing with the cameras next class, which for me is tomorrow. Yay!

Date: 2002-01-28 04:45 pm (UTC)Developing and printing were always my favorite part of photography, which is one of the reasons why I haven't really done anything since I lost access to a darkroom. It's like Zen meditation with chemicals and red lighting. Plus, I end up hating the way labs print my black and white stuff. (I'm very picky about high contrast, and even when I include print guides they usually tend to screw things up and it all turns out grey. How hard is it to put a damn filter in the enlarger? Gah.)
