July was filled with lots of good stuff... and some not so good, but you know me, I try not to hold onto the negative. The summer has just been full of people I love and am lucky to have in my life and I just feel all mushy and stuff when I think about it. There have been family dinners and fangirl gatherings and out of town visitors and playdate success and Santa Cruz jaunts and all manner of really, really wonderful happenings that I'm not doing justice to but that I nonetheless treasure.

August is going to be more of the same, though slowing down (thankfully - I must admit that after so much social goodness I'm looking forward to some quiet time). Three big things - Legoland (whoohoo!), back-to-school, and Alex's birthday. It's that last one, really... there is something about kids birthday parties that makes me gleefully lose my mind a little. The internet (with its always-dangerous cake blogs) is only encouraging my madness. Hee!

Yesterday was the block party in Trudy's neighborhood. I've always loved the idea of them but now I'm in full-on envy... or would be if I hadn't been invited. The kids had a blast on one of those jump-house style slip and slides. Alex earnestly thinks we should go buy one and have it up all the time, ha. I'd picked up a little face painting kit... didn't use it much since all the kids were in the water, but had lots of fun once it got later and wouldn't wash off immediately. So that was fun.

Ryan is getting better and better about people... still makes scowly face at people a lot, but more and more is willing to walk around in a big group or be held by someone non-parental. He's also been eating like a starving thing, so I'm expecting a big growth or devolopment spurt in the near future.
