Life is continuing its slow upward trend. This month features my sweetheart's birthday (St. Patrick's day), miriad little signs of spring, and a growing desire to be social. Does anyone want to play? Plans towards the end of the month (yaaaaaay fangirl goodness) but lots of other days available for dinner, lunch, craftiness, chatter, etc.

February goodness I haven't reported yet, hmm.... my cell phone (finally) got ported over to the usual number, so I am reachable... not that I, y'know, talk on the phone that often but it's the principle of the thing! I am trying to decide what I want to put on the front of the case, and then I will have pretty pretty prettiness as well as all kinds of cool features. Hee, I'm still in the new-gadget honeymoon phase :)

Alex's school ('s PTO) put on a movie night... Monsters Vs Aliens in the cafeteria! Many small children scurrying about, adorable sleeping bags spread out on the linoleum like a giant patchwork quilt, a street fair atmosphere, cheap refreshments, and a surprise belching contest (root beer and microphone provided, boys and girls participating!)... ah, being a parent is like having a second childhood sometimes. He is Student of the Month for his class in March (yay!) and so on Wednesday there's a little ceremony thing to celebrate :D His class will also be doing a little song with sign language which I'm sure will be adorable. In a couple weeks, I meet with teachers, etc, for his assessment and will get a better idea of where he's at and where we'll be headed next year in terms of school. Hoping that goes well... the main problem at this point is not so much communication but focus & attention :(

Girl scout cookies arrived (my cousin's daughter is an awesome girl scout! Top seller in her troop!) and so we had an impromptu family lunch thing to get ours. Lots of crazy mixups, but it was a good time.... got to see an uncle I haven't seen in probably 20, 25 years? and talk on the phone to my cousin that's in prison (heh, so white trash, but that's family) and catch up on some of the latest gossip. I'd like to be in better touch with them, but as you all know me... yeah, you know I'm not good about keeping up contact, even though I try hard.

Kitchen remodeling continues :D Tax return goodness means I get to have pretty new counters, which makes me a very happy kitten.

Ryan just got another wee little cold, poor tyke... his immune system is going to be all RAWR by the time he turns one. He's loving feeding himself and doesn't really want the more nutritious soft food, so... mixed bag on that. Luckily, we are tricky tricky parents and still manage to sneak some into him. He's... adjusting to going to bed solo. I'm so softhearted that it's not easy, but it's time I think. In not happy news, I managed to break the crib today. It was mine when I was a baby and one of the few things my mom was able to hold onto (we had a less-than-stable living situation when I was wee) and I'd hoped both my boys would be able to use it. Currently Ryan is comboing our bed and his pack-n-play, so it's more of an emotional thing than anything else... and I'm not so invested that I want to repair it at any cost just for a few months of use.

Court date to appoint me executer of the estate is in a week... also need to deal with her taxes/back taxes, etc... I've been pretty horrible about getting stuff done, which makes me feel like a loser, but I'm continuing to struggle with it. Bleh. Okay, happy post turned maudlin, so I'll wrap up now.

Movie night sounds like fun! The "second childhood" times are some of my favorite parts of being a parent. :D

Yay for Girl Scout cookies and kitchen remodeling! I hope Ryan feels better soon.

*hugs and hopes for a happy Spring*

Do not make it harder on yourself on the taxes. Use an accountant, estate stuff is awful. Accountants can get a download straight from the IRS, so if you are missing paperwork, etc. they still have access to the info and can zip it all together in no time. They charge you a couple hundred dollars, but by god it is worth every penny in reduced stress.
I can also tell you they do not penalize late stuff of estates when it isn't a big pile of money. I have done two estates worth of back taxes and, knock on wood, had no penalties beyond loss of a couple of refunds from my grandmothers undone taxes 4 years ago. Plus, if you aren't official executor you actually can't legally do anything more than organize paperwork right now anyway.

it's good to see your doing better hon *smiles and waves at you and the little ones*

If you ever need any educational resources for Alex give me a buzz.... I do have a master's in elementary and all.... and it might as well do someone else some good since I'm still waiting for a post o_0

I'm sorry to hear about the crib.... I kind of understand the feeling... theirs a horrendous art deco panther/cheetah hybrid statue thats been passed down form grandma to mother to ect. through the years that my Mother owns and I really couldn't imagine a home without it o_0 Just think of all the planty goodness that will come your way soon in the garden.
