I have a shiny new operating system! And so far, I like it. Still figuring it out, and will need Nate to fix the flash thing so I can watch videos, but I'm happy in my little geekophile heart.

My general state of being lately swings wildly between giddy and really stressed out. Alex's 4th birthday is this Tuesday, and his party is tomorrow. It should rock like a rocking thing. My brain is so consumed with dinosaurs that I'm surprised I'm not dreaming of them. My mom's new treatment finally got approved and she's getting that today - fingers crossed that we see some improvement. Her financial situation continues to be a mess that I just want to hide from. Bad Amy. Must deal with it. Alex starts school again on Monday, and will be in the afternoon class (slightly more advanced) this year - hoorah! He's so into spelling right now; it's crazy. He's also learning to ride a bike (with training wheels, bien sur) and doing a pretty awesome job with it. Feel free to imagine the cliche 'wah, my baby's growing up' bits that I'm refraining from inflicting on you all.

I think this may be one of my more chaotic entries in a while... my brain desires caffeine which it does not have.

the finance stuff bites. I have to mentally prepare myself for my grandmothers stuff and sit down and do it all at once every few weeks (now every couple of weeks) or else it hangs over my head and stresses me out way too much. I am hoping once I am no longer paying the bills out of my dwindling savings it will fell less stressful.

Me too. The bank and courts make it as difficult as possible (which is why I tell everyone to get their names directly on the bank accounts, rather than doing just the power of attorney.) I have to do everything, PLUS file endless paperwork so that they can verify that I am not stealing $100 a week for myself but actually buying a sick old lady her medicines. I have no clue how strict they will be on the finances, so am saving every single piece of paper I can just in case.

I did my mom's estate too, and really the only advice I have is organize and keep EVERYTHING. I had two year battles with the IRS and various banks and having all the notes and statements in one place, with some organization really really helped.
