More Spring!

First up, we have the California poppy. This is our state flower and the reason we're called "The Golden State". You can often find them seeded alongside the freeways this time of year; I particularly like them interspersed with purple lupine.







I have a few types of lavendar growing, as it (along with roses, grapes, and rosemary) just loves our area. The fernleaf is the only one in bloom at the moment.








Spirea, which reminds me a lot of baby's breath; I should've taken a close-up of this one too. Ah well.







Purple bearded iris, though it's not quite open yet, with a background of... you know, those bushes with all the pink flowers? And they turn into blue berries?





Lantana, in white. I've also got some in the yellow/orange/red rainbow that'll be blooming eventually.






Two roses from in front; they're all budded up, these two are the early bloomers. The first is all waterspot-y and doesn't look like much, but the color verges from red to almost black, so I'm a little in love with it. And then the pink one is nice because they're all lovely and longstemmed, so good for cutting.






Then there's this... white flowered bush. No idea what it is, but it's fairly pretty.






Awww, look at my wee little artichokes, already getting started! They are my favorite veggie.






A sliver of the little flowerbox in front of the door, and the little urn next to the pond. Just some pansies and allyssum and petunias.





And lastly, our brave little strawberries! These managed to survive the winter, and are quite happy to see warmer weather.

The ability to grow artichokes makes me feel way more validated than it probably should. And yes, they are super cute.

Glad you enjoyed the photos! It never fails to make me happy when I go outside and see everything looking so pretty.

speaking of yards and gardening and such...we just (now) got done digging up the daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, hostas, and black-eyed susans from up at our "other place". The excavator could be there tomorrow to knock down and haul off the foundation, so we wanted to save what we could of our bulbs and other stuff. Put it all in big planters and window box thingies and brought it down to this house. We'll replant it at all at the new (old) place in the fall when we move back.

Oooh, I'm glad you were able to salvage them. Sounds like a great plan; I know you guys have put a lot of work into making the yard look nice over the years, and it'll be nice to have them ready to go when the house is finished.

Awesome! kalistrya rocks - I believe she's correct, though ours only have the faintest fragrance (some of them are supposed to smell really good). Still, it's a pretty plant, and I'm happy to have it identified!

Artichokes! Neat!

And I love lantana. So pretty, and they smell so sweet!

I love my artichokes! I'd always seen them out in Half Moon Bay and thought they needed that coastal kind of atmosphere to grow. I was ecstatic when I learned that I could have some of my own, and it's not a very fussy plant which is a bonus.

Yay lantana! I really like it too, and just added it last year. Such cute little happy flowers.
