Weekend wrapup

Ah, let's see. So, my mom had her MRI on Friday, and came by afterwards to steal Alex away for the day. She was campaigning for an overnight, but we had a lot going on on Saturday, so I nixed it. In retrospect, I probably should've said yes. He had a very rough night (rare for him these days) which meant no one in the household got much sleep.
Saturday was pretty awesome, however. We managed to get out to CJ's birthday party, which was a pretty good time. A lot of people we didn't really know that well, and Alex was more interested in the toys than the babies, but hey :D birthday party! I got to feed my new neice, whose one month old and still pretty much figuring out that there's a world around her. Afterwards, we trekked out to have dinner with Mike and Shannon and little Chloe. There was a lot of good time had, even split six ways, though between the milk-spilling, the introduction to Yo Gabba Gabba (....kids show), and the time of departure decided by little ones getting tired, we were definitely joking that our get-togethers these days are more tame than they used to be.
Alex has been very disappointed that 'birthday party' doesn't happen everyday. Sunday we went to the park, and chased each other around there for a while. I gathered a few four leaf clovers for next month and spent some time swinging, which I haven't done in a while. Eventually it started getting drizzly, so we adjourned to the Burger King for lunch and playland for continued romping goodness. Their current toys in the kids meals are a Snoopy figure who hugs a little Woodstock (yup,
moonheart, I was thinking of you!) and Alex really seems to like Snoopy. May have to see if he's into the Charlie Brown cartoon specials.
Okay,
jedichad tagged me, so clicky for
a) List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself
1. I cannot whistle.
2. I never lost my upper canines, so they're still baby teeth. It's part of what makes my smile so quirky and unusual.
3. I really miss sleeping in.
4. I spent a really long time learning to "twitch" my nose like a bunny, with dubious success. I could never successfully wiggle my ears.
5. I am a complete packrat. I find it almost impossible to refuse something that is free, or to get rid of something that is still good.
6. I like flowers for more than just decoration. I love knowing the 'meanings' of them, and which ones are edible, have healing properties, etc.
7. I hated my name until I learned French and found out it meant friend and beloved.
b) Tag seven people to do the same
No. ::feels rebellious::
c) Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag "whoever wants to do it"
I tag whoever wants to do it!

Date: 2008-02-04 08:39 pm (UTC)1. I cannot whistle. I whistle poorly. This is a great disappointment to me, as I always wanted to whistle that beginning part of Patience by Guns N' Roses.
3. I really miss sleeping in. YES! (Was that emphatic enough?)
4. I spent a really long time learning to "twitch" my nose like a bunny, with dubious success. I could never successfully wiggle my ears. My husband can wiggle his ears independently. It's extremely weird but very cool.
6. I like flowers for more than just decoration. I love knowing the 'meanings' of them, and which ones are edible, have healing properties, etc. Me, too! When I was a kid, I used to check out books on the healing properties of wild plants and which one could eat. (I think I had some notion of surviving off the land, should I ever get lost in the wilderness.) I think that was half the reason I liked The Clan of the Cave Bear so much the first time I read it; Ayla knew a ton about plants.
