The holidays were mostly good. There was a lot of busy, but a lot of awesome. There were some out-of-town folks that we didn't get to see while they were in-town (not our fault, but sucks nonetheless) but we did get lots of time with family and friends, and there was just a lot of warm fuzziness.

Health stuff: My mom... not doing so hot. One of the hardest things about Christmas was that she was almost constantly sleeping, including most of Christmas Eve which was when we celebrated with her. She's going for more chemo and for another MRI, and I... well, I'd appreciate it if people would keep her in their thoughts/prayers/whatever you believe in. It would be really nice if we could find a treatment that makes her better, you know?
On the bright side, I'm doing pretty well. My 3-month blood check came back awesome, which means my diabetes is in excellent control, and I totally get a gold star for being such a good girl. I've been figuring out ways to make it easier to live with - made a fantastic almost-no-sugar low-carb chocolate cheesecake for a holiday party and am thrilled with how well it turned out. If all goes well, we may be trying to get pregnant in 2008. So - much happiness with all that. I have been sleeping a bit much, so might need to get my thyroid meds adjusted a little, but that's no biggie.

Alex has been doing pretty good. Oh my god, spoiled from Christmas, but that's not really a surprise and I think that overall he did pretty well given his age and everything. He's not a complete angel, but he's well-behaved most of the time. We're still a bit behind on communication (he gets evaluated later this month, then probably speech therapy) which also means that potty training is not really happening :( Hopefully soon, though.

The kitties are inside-only now. They've made the adjustment easier than I thought they would, really. We got them a new kitty tree for in the living room, and they are quite pleased with it and utterly adorable with their antics. A visitor who didn't know better let Frodo outside today, but I noticed immediately and he was good about me picking him up and bringing him back inside... no struggling or running or anything. So I'm pleased with that.

I have a new niece! Sarah Noelle was born December 31st, and is very heart-stealing indeed.

This is pretty brief considering how much should really be here, but hey - it's an update! Oh, and I'll leave you with Alex's picture with Santa. He was trying to make his pretend frowny-face rather than smiling, so the photographer had to really work to get a chuckle out of him. She managed to do a pretty good job getting this begrudging smile:
