Update from Maryland!

Okay, I did promise you guys a real update...
Philadelphia wasn't bad, but it was nice to leave. Since that was the "business trip" bit for Nate, we didn't get to see much of him. Alex continually charmed complete strangers who came up to compliment me on how cute and sweet and well behaved he is. Yay for well behaved bebes!
We left Sunday morning after Nate finally got some well-deserved rest.
It's amazing how much quicker of a trip it is when there's not a blizzard going on! We got down to Trudi's place crazy fast, brought our stuff in, and then it was off to the store and Becky's house for visiting and dinner. Alex was a little shy; it's been a while since he's seen most of the people and there were a lot of them. He's since settled right down and opened up again.
Monday we picked the boys up from school and watched them for a bit, as Serena & Becky couldn't. Lots of fun was had. Alex still is a bit shy of the doggy kissing him all over the face, but he loves interacting with her and giggles like mad when she licks his hands/arms. We had a good time spending some time with the boys, as well. We don't get many opportunites to see them, and they grow up fast. In the evening, the kids had a baseball game, which I opted out of. Nate and the baby went and ended up staying pretty late, but they had a good time.
Yesterday, Alex wasn't feeling too well. I'm sure I'vewhined mentioned that we're getting over a cold, but he woke up pretty feverish. We called into his ped office just to make sure his symptoms weren't anything we needed to have him seen for, and got him some tylenol to bring the fever down, but decided to just stay home. It's been a little stressful, all the changes - the flight, hotel, car bits, and being bounced around to different homes and seeing a lot of people he doesn't see on a regular basis. He's a champ, but it seemed like some downtime would be good for him (and probably not a bad thing for us either.) We just stayed in for the most part, snuggled and played once his fever was down, and he's started feeling a lot better. After Trudi got home, we went out for dinner at an Italian place... a little slow, but the food was yumminess.
Today, the baby still seems to be on the mend and doing okay, so I think he's over whatever it was, although he did wake up last night. Sleepy today. We went out to the Baltimore national aquarium. That was nice... I think I like the Monterey Bay aquarium a little better, but we had a really nice time. They had a very nifty frog exhibit going on, and a dolphin show, as well as their usual aquarium stuff. Alex did pretty well... not sure how much he understood, but he does like to see the fish and everything. Back home now and he's napping, and then later we're going over to see
moon_heart and his family for dinner. YAY! And tomorrow we're planning on doing some touristy stuff in DC and maybe meeting up with some people for lunch and such. We've been terrible at remembering the camera although we did bring it... hopefully tomorrow we'll remember to take some pictures.

Date: 2006-06-08 04:12 am (UTC)Yes, DC! I feel strangely hypocritical about touring the capital, because I've never really been patriotic or political or anything, but I do appreciate the artistic and architectural aspects of the monuments and such.
(PS to Xander - you've got me doing word jumbles with "expensive" to see what else I can turn up, and I'm entirely too successful at it.)
