Sep. 28th, 2005 11:16 pmThree months ago, I was:
1. Coming to terms with the fact that many of the people I care about aren't in my life anymore.
2. Getting ready for the July/August flurry of birthday activity.
3. Taking care of the little one while Nate did home improvement stuff, and wishing I was actually able to help more.
Six months ago, I was:
1. Discovering that I finally had a little bit of time and energy outside of caring for Alexander, and rediscovering who I was post-mommydom.
2. Feeling strong urges to create, almost irregardless of media.
3. Still amazed at how outgoing people are once you become a parent.
Nine months ago, I was:
1. Slowly sinking into the most despondent period of my life, and trying to understand why.
2. Fighting my natural instincts to share the above with my husband and friends, instead of pretending everything was great.
3. Getting into wearing fun socks for the first time in probably fifteen years or more. I tend to just wear plain white ones when I wear them at all (I'm a barefoot or sandal gal most of the time).
One year ago, I was:
1. Absolutely in love with a beautiful little boy named Alexander
2. Being brave and social with people I didn't know (ah, if only that had lasted) and seeing quite a bit of family and friends.
3. Really busy but really happy.
Two years ago, I was:
1. Happily playing with our new digital SLR camera, which I *still* love to pieces (even though Nate and I were drooling over Tom's new toy last weekend)
2. Gratefully celebrating how much Nate's dad was recovering after his accident.
3. Creating a gorgeous autumn faerie costume for Halloween/Rust which I completely forgot to bring and thus have never worn (didn't do anything last year) and probably won't get to wear this year either. Boohoo.
