...was Saturday, and was actually pretty fun.

So, we did a Winnie the Pooh theme, with lots of bright primary colors and helium balloons.
General idea:

Of course we got two cakes, since the little ones tend to dive in and destroy things. Safeway actually gave us a free one for him which ended up being bigger than I expected... I thought it would be a little round one, that are meant for like 2-4 people... instead it was pretty much full size. Ah well. Pictures of the cakes!

Getting ready for the party - he does love his bathtime, even if he's looking a little serious here.

Most of the guests ran a little late... Grandpa Bob and Grandma Melanie were the first to arrive shortly after noon, but they'd come down early so they'd have time to hit some garage sales (which Melanie *loves*). Uncle Mike and soon-to-be-Aunt Shannon were next, and we went ahead and got started on the food. Just did Round Table pizza, and then of course the snacky stuff like mixed nuts, chips, veggies, etc. Alex's Opa, Grandma Karen, and Aunt Cassie arrived... usually they come super early so it was kind of a surprise that they got here so late... Nate was just calling to make sure they hadn't forgotten when they pulled in the drive. My mom, of course, is always late, and was the last to arrive a little before one o'clock.
His first outfit was a cute yellow WtP, but that got dirty before I got a picture. Here he is in his happy bunny onesie, sitting on daddy's lap and munching on a baby carrot:

The rocking horse was his main gift from Opa and Grandma Karen:

We did actually get him to wear a party hat for a bit.... I thought he would immediately hate it, but he did pretty well. Cuteness:

I'm going to skip all the gift-opening and playing with new toys pictures... if anyone really wants to see those, let me know. He gots tons of fun stuff and a few new things to wear, and a couple children's movies (Shrek 2 - he loves the original Shrek; and the animated fox Robin Hood which I just adore). After presents, we did the cake, which went pretty well... he didn't really seem into it at first, but he did eventually get a little messy with it... not as bad as some little ones do, with frosting in the hair and the ears and everywhere else, as you can see:

After everybody left, we all did some relaxing in the hot tub, and Alex got to wear his new flotation-equipped bathing suit from Katlyn... thought she might like to see him enjoying it:

Awwww... he looks so adorable and happy in the last picture, and I'm so glad he likes it! I'm getting all teary-eyed. Give him a kiss...

Love you guys. Wish I could have been there.
