Mar. 29th, 2004 04:16 pmLet's see.
Well, last weekend (20th) was Nate and our nephew Tynan's bday party. We drove down to Modesto with Jay and Morgan and had a really good time... Nate's dad rented a Spongebob bouncy castle, which the kids (and a couple of the adult kids) had a blast in. It was really nice to see the Wyatt's, and Bob, Melanie, Karen, and Trudi were all down from Petaluma. Everyone was just super nice and wonderful to me and it was a great day... just alot of feelings of family and belonging. Nate got tons of great stuff, Tynan loved the GI Joe attack helicopter we got him, and there were bonus gifts distributed. Trudi has already finished two baby blankets for me... a really pretty one that is a baby blue/baby pink twirly yarn, and then another with woven strips of pink, yellow, white, blue, lavendar, and green, with yellow ruffle around it. I really love them and hadn't been expecting anything - she said she is also working on a third one. We also got some baby things from Melanie... little onesies and washcloths, and a cute washcloth puppet bug. On Sunday, we decided to go back down - they were going out to Columbia (a cute historic town) for the day and we hadn't been in a while, so off we went... we hung out in the saloon with Karl while the others went on a stagecoach ride, then got some yummy lunch with a band playing bluegrass... wandered around and took pictures, got yummy soaps and candy from the shops, and watched the kids pan for gold. It was good. On the way back there was a little ugliness between the very liberal and very conservative values, but it wasn't too bad - I think it surprised them a bit. They know my feelings but I generally stay out of debates with them at their house, just as a respect thing; in my vehicle though, I'm not going to keep my mouth shut when they make inflammatory statements. But anyhow...
Don't remember much about last week - Friday night we started checking out the used car dealerships and that continued most of Saturday. Very tricky. We did end up quite happy and I am the new owner of a 2000 Ford Focus stationwagon. It is very nice and new looking, and much sportier (?) than my old car - the engine has alot more kick, which means hills are easier than before and that I need to watch my speed until I get used to it (it's very easy for me to inch up to 80mph or so without realizing it). Sunday we headed out to Hayward - the kiddos were out - and then Castro Valley to see my mom. Had a good time chatting with her and then we stopped by Connie's on the way home to check for turbo snails for the big saltwater tank. They were out but expecting some next weekend. Yay! So we can finally start getting that going.
Today I'd meant to get stuff done around the house, but we ended up going down to my credit union - I can get a much better interest rate on the car loan through them, and so we got that switched over and I dropped the check off at the dealership. Attempted to get a great deal I heard about online but my Target didn't have any. I did get my free Jamba Juice and that is happy.
Orange kitty didn't come in last night, which is unusual but not unheard of - I hope he shows back up this evening when the kitties come in. Trying not to worry but of course I worry every time until I see for myself that they are fine.

Date: 2004-03-31 12:03 pm (UTC)Kitty did come home... we think he may have accidentally gotten closed into one of the neighbors sheds or something. Fishies are... mostly good? Did I mention the cardinalfish died? So that was a little sad. No idea what happened as we were out of the house both times. I will try to get some good pics or the tanks of my tummy and everything, but I don't want to promise. Between social activities and getting caught up on housework, etc, little things like photos seem to slip between the cracks. I will try though, and also try to update a bit more regularly.
