Leaving on a jet plane....

A flurry of motion getting to the airport meant a few items got left behind - nothing crucial though. Arrived and checked my bag and got my boarding passes in plenty of time. I sat and talked with Nate for a while in the visitor area, but I was acutely aware of the impending distance between us, and had to send him home before it became too much. I was able to find a plug converter for the laptop (one of the items forgotten at home) at the airport and so that was taken care of.
On the plane and I was pleased to have the row of seats to myself. I don't mind sharing of course, but I'm not always particularly social and let's face it, airline companions run a pretty broad spectrum between "just fine" and "nightmare that you'll be telling the story of for six years". I spent the flight rereading my copy of The Black Swan. As per their advertising, my flight landed early and I had plenty of time to meet my connecting flight. A typical airline food dinner was brought around and then I watched Charlie's Angels 2 (fun but very fluffy) and Legally Blond 2 (passed the time but I don't have the manic fandom for the series as others do). I would rather have napped but I don't have luck sleeping during travel. As breakfast came around (croissant and fruit salad), I noticed my window had tiny splinters of frost/snow on the outside. Little wonder - the nifty status program pegged the outside temperature at minus 56 farenheit. I watched the sunrise come up over the field of clouds we flew above, and it was like blood in water - a darkness spilling into brilliant crimson, before diluting and fading away into lesser colors. Technically it is tomorrow. My frost crystals didn't melt until touchdown. The city of Paris was softened with fog or smog, but I felt my spirit stirring at it's closeness, and watched the Eiffel Tower until the flight was over.
