a good facsimile of news....
Sep. 9th, 2003 11:13 pmLive sand settled down quickly. We picked up a little hunk of live rock from the close fish store. It's not as "live" as I might have hoped (at least nothing obvious has peeked out at us yet) but on the other hand, that means nothing nasty as well as not much nice came on it. When we get the major portion of rock, it will probably be more interesting, but that's a ways off still. Have all my test kits in order and tomorrow I'll toss in a shrimp and start counting drops and peering at little cards to demystify the results.
I don't know. I guess that's all.

Date: 2003-09-10 01:20 am (UTC)"Live" rock or sand is basically regular coral rock/sand that has alot of live ocean organisms living on it... some are microscopic but if you're lucky you can also end up with visible life, like little crabs and stuff like that. So far no goodies have shown up but it's a mixed blessing... might not live or they might live but end up being something bad that we don't want in the tank.
