Sweetly scented

Have a little vase of heaven on my desk right now... two of the freesias opened up their blossoms for me (one a sunshiney gold and one a pale lavendar with a white throat) and came inside to serenade me. I tucked in some forget-me-nots, a few sprigs of my fernleaf lavendar, and a nice full red rose that has a scent almost as intoxicating as the freesia. Not the most aesthetic gathering of flowers I've ever made, but they make my head light and joyous.
Potted up my happy chubby plumeria stick today. We'll see how it does - need to dig up the heating pad for it since they like bottom heat while they're rooting. So so much going on in the gardening side of my life right now. This weekend I'd really like to do a thourough cleaning out of the riotous backyard so that some of the things coming up (like the lavendar freesias and a pea or sweetpea vine I discovered accidently) have a chance to see the sun. Cable installation on Saturday, but it's otherwise a nice empty weekend as far as I know (Nate may or may not be working) and it would be a good time to do it.
Also on the projects-to-do list is insulating the attic. That really needs to be done before Livermore heads into the really really hot part of summer. We'd wanted to get the hot tub situated, but apparently because of the wiring and such, there may be permit issues etc. So it may be awhile yet until we can get the electrical taken care of, put in the new patio, move the tub and get it hooked up, tear out the old decking... and of course there are other things like fencing and repair of our back workshop that would like attention. ::big breath:: One thing at a time though. Also, it's become clear that the little container pond is not situated in a good place - the path of the sun is just blocked by the fence. So at some point that will come out, and the orandas will stay in the bathroom until we figure out further accomadations for them. Thinking about maybe having the pond out front, but... just not ready to make that decision yet. It will figure into things when we design the paths through the yards and around the house though. Okee, that's enough to-do list for now, more than enough really.

Date: 2003-03-20 08:40 pm (UTC)So, you're welcome to come up, for digging slavery or just to hang out. And have you thought about growing a few things in containers to help with your fever? I'd be more than happy to share some of my umpteen million seeds with you :) Anyhow - let me know if you want to come up for a day or the weekend, if John will be able to come too, and if there's anything else you want to do while you're up here!

Date: 2003-03-21 07:50 am (UTC)I'm kindof trying to figure out the logistics of when and where. Do you have a preference for Saturday or Sunday? I also have Monday free but I'm not sure how your school schedule is...
I think it would be fun enough to do gardeny type stuff...
(John wouldn't be able to come. He's got to work this weekend. Boooo.)
