Pet stuff! Because we love little animals....

The kitties had a very happy Christmas... They got new toys (because I like my boys to be spoiled rotten and then spoiled some more) and new treats, not to mention the xmas decorations which they just *LOVE* to play with... plus they got a new litter box! Now that they are getting big they really needed a second one anyhow, so we got them a Catty Corner

which really is awesomely easy to clean and they are happy kitties with lots of space & privacy to do their thing.

And of course we can't forget our aquatic menagerie...
The big tank had:
2 figure eight puffers
1 GIGANTOMONGOUS female betta... seriously, she is HUGE...
2 clown loaches
4 tiger barbs
8 fancy male guppies
1 big snail (unknown type)

We traded in the clown loaches (they kept eating the puffers' snails and the bigger one was getting nippy at the other fish during feeding time) and lost a tiger barb - unknown cause, probably natural? Then we added:

3 itty bitty TINY cute dwarf spotted puffers (added to the guppy side since they're so little... don't want them to be confused with "food")
3 spotted cory cats... to help with the scavenging/cleanup that the loaches used to do... plus I just think they're cute :)
3 little tiger barbs... because they are schooling fish and only having 3 in a tank is a bad idea...
3 little albino tiger barbs... zee cutest! I call them my orange tabby fish :)
1 sweet diminutive female betta! She's just lovely... pale white body with shades of turquoise irridescence, light turquoise fins with rose/red striping... I'm just in love with the little girl.

Speaking of bettas, I lost one due to negligence... one of my blue crowntails had been in a hospital tank since I wasn't sure why he was acting funny - difficulty swimming mostly. Unfortunately I forgot to replace the lid one time and the kitties got him :( I felt like such a bad fishkeeper. So I did also get a new blue crowntail to replace him, and he's in an observation tank just to make sure he doesn't get anything nasty. With the cooler winter temperatures, it seems to be betta sickness season. I've been able to rig up a few things (heating pads, desk lamps, small heaters) that should keep the beauties warm, hopefully mine will adjust without complications and Stasha's boy (guest at my house til the ick goes away) will get better soon.
