Oct. 10th, 2002 01:12 amWe're hoping to bring home a big square hot tub this weekend. Nate is currently attempting to rally help of the male-friends-that-can-lift-stuff variety. We went to see it today and it is gorgeous. And it is free! Can't beat that. Does need some help (I'll be making a cover for it, and the pump needs at the least cleaning, at the most replacing) but all in all, it's just lovely. 92" square on the outside edges. Therapy seats. Jets and bubbles. Wide wooden steps to get into it. I want to go pet it. So, we're hoping to do that Saturday afternoon.
I hate my research paper. It starts out just fine and then the longer I work on it, the more it's like pulling teeth, and eventually my inner child just throws a tantrum and refuses to do anymore without a break and bribery. I'm hoping LJ counts so I can finish the darn thing and go to bed. I had to bake cookies earlier, and then I still wouldn't work on it. Sigh. But it will get done! And I am making (slow) progress.
Re: garden stuff. Was watering this morning and noticed the sixth and final garlic has finally sprouted up so I know where it is. That's wonderful, one less thing for me to worry irrationally about. I hope it is growing happily and making lots of baby garlic pieces. I also was looking at some of this fluffy leafy stuff that I've sort of classified as a ground cover, and I noticed this wee bit of purple. Curious, I burrowed in and found a tiny little blossom atop a slender stem. Now, I've dug through this stuff many times (snails liked to hide in it during the day) and never seen a flower, just the "fruit" of the plant. Lo and behold, there were a few more flowers scattered about so I gathered the pretty things up and brought them in to inspire me. I happened to smell them, and oh my, they are the sweetest things for all their small stature! I thought of violets and looked them up - I think that's what I have. Who knew violets were so tiny?? Though that may just be my variety. I could *almost* swear I've seen pressed violets before that were bigger. These appear to be aspiring to the size of a pencil eraser. But oh, they smell wonderful!
