Met with the flooring people today so they could measure the house. Yay! It's going to be close because the date we take possession keeps getting pushed back - heh, I'm such an impatient girl! I wanna move in!!
I got to the house wayyyyy early. That's okay, gave me time to read my Anthro chapter (well not the whole thing) while I was waiting. Also, I have Hansen's peach green tea. At first I hated it but I think the honey has me liking it at this point. Maybe I'm just too used to oversweetened things. Eh, too much sugar last night I think - I feel hungover this morning. Headachy and sensitive and dehydrated. Anyhow.... Carpet people got there early too so we went on into my house! They were very complimentary about the house, and while yeah, BS is the job of salespeople, they seemed sincere and I was pleased by it. Heh, plus one of the girls said I was 'so cute'. I'm a sucker for people saying I'm cute.
Anyway! (why do I get so sidetracked?) We went over what we want done and they did all their measuring and so now we just need to go in after they figure out the numbers to make final decisions on carpeting color and such and see how much it will all cost. They are really sweet and offered to stay late an evening or come in on Saturday for us if we need them to. Love to the nice carpet peoples.
Anyway, my bunny is not available so I am writing down my impressions before I forget them.
1. May be easier to leave dining room linoleum and just do the wood in the living room - cheaper too, and less worries about matching the kitchen/dining cabinets. What do you think?
2. Living room wall is approx 8' wide and 92" high. So we can think about the mirroring, BUT I did notice that there are outlets in the wall - should be easy to work around but I'm not sure?
3. The lovely retro stereo system is not in the living room. Maybe they decided to keep it after all? One less thing to worry about.
4. Nadim thinks the AC unit is okay, that the sparks were due to crappy wiring? He suggested keeping that unit there and using ours for the bedroom. Just something to maybe think about.
5. The kitchen ceiling is going to need repainting I noticed. Also, the acoustic ceiling looks oddly patchy... I was thinking about maybe asking my Uncle Alvin to come take a look at it before we try taking it down. I am worried that it may have been previously painted or something, making it hideous (hideouser?) to take down. What do you think? And we could also talk to him about different ceiling treatments.
6. The flooring people said if we do the prep work on the floors like tearing out the old stuff, it will be less expensive. Thought we might want to consider it? The hallway will be really easy and with the age of the bedrooms, they might be too. More work for us so will probably depend on how much of a savings?
Think that is it for now! If you want to call or ICQ me when you get a chance, I will be here.
