Crazy, right?

Things are kind of in a good place for me right now. It feels scary to say that, because I'm afraid I'll jinx it, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Ryan just had his nine month checkup. His doctor seems to agree with most other people that he's probably just going to skip crawling entirely and go straight to walking, so I'm not fretting about that. He's also cleared for beginner finger foods which he has been very much wanting, so that's a happy thing. He's actually being a bit picky about food at the moment, but hopefully just a brief phase. I'm starting to work more on getting him a bedtime routine (it's been sadly lacking) to make it easier once we transition him to his own space. He's been in a pretty clingy place the last couple months - mommy and daddy are great, but nothing to do with anyone else. Auntie Trudy watched the boys for a few hours on Valentine's day, so Nate and I were able to get away and have a romantic dinner together at our fondue place. Num num num...

Nate's had a bit of time off (state holidays and furlough and a couple days he took off to make a good long stretch) and so that's been awesome. We've been able to put a lot of time into quality family time and home projects. My oh-so-retro kitchen is finally getting redone... we've removed the painted over brick facing from the walls and will be texturing & painting soon. Tax refund should provide for new counters which is a big YAY - no more scorched-in-places pink/cream/tan marble-patterned formica!

Alex has been doing great lately... green tickets every day at school (which means he was focused on his work, didn't goof off or get in trouble, etc) and no more bathroom accidents. Yet more candy from Valentine's day... we never get through all the candy. I don't know if it's like this for everyone, or if most kids just eat waaaay more sugar than mine, but... yeah, it's usually out with the old and in with the new at every holiday.

Found a chili recipe I like (I'm a picky eater, so it was a challenge) and kind of want to make it again even though we just had it. Om nom nom. Getting ready to put sugar snap peas and tomatoes in the ground, and my artichoke is showing some nice growth... might try to move it, though. I thought they were single season plants, but apparently not! :) Our strawberries never entirely died out. Lots of daffodils right now but no freesias :( I didn't get any last year, so I suppose we'll wait and see if some come up this spring or not. Either way, will probably want to put more in this fall because I love them so much and need my happy blossoms. Camellias and violets are also plentiful... roses will be on their way soon.

Last night I got a happy, shiny, pretty little phone that I really didn't need, but it's fun to have. Still need to figure out how to use it (for the most part) but I'm full of new-gadget-delight. ::pets it::

But enough about me. How are all of you?
