Mar. 20th, 2006 03:10 pmSo, this is to be the year of no dead (or worse, half-dead) animals as tribute. The kitties are not sure what to make of this memo. They're used to Spring kicking off with lots of exciting offerings of maimed birdies, which they drag into the house and set loose, and place bets on whether they can kill it before I lock them in a room and spoil their fun by removing the toy victim. But now the kitty door to the outside world is closed, and they can only go in or out if a person lets them. (The kitty door to the laundry room - which enables them to reach food, water, litter, and a warm dry toddler-free area - is still open.) There is currently a small dead rodent next to the back door, ostensibly left there when they discovered they couldn't bring it inside to show me. Still, I count it as a victory.
In other news, Nate's birthday over the weekend was lovely. The weather is still a bit on the unpredictable side, tending towards wet, but there are flowers blooming. Otherwise, it's a very un-Spring-like Spring. Alex is still a burbling font of mischief and adorability. I keep thinking about posting either examples of how wrong my mother and I are, or memory snippets of my family that I use for playing White Trash-er Than Thou. Which would be funnier? And also, would I scare people off? The last time I posted fun childhood memories, people avoided responding to the post like it carried leprosy. So, for now at least, I resist. Oh look, time to go, the boy is pulling the cat's tail.
