weekend in review...
Nov. 24th, 2003 11:36 amSince I know you are all sitting on the edge of your seats wondering what the outcome of the cheesecake cookoff is..... it was pretty even, but the white chocolate cheesecake got a few more votes. My personal feeling was that I preferred the crust on the white chocolate one but that it wasn't really chocolate-y enough, and I preferred the silkier texture of my old recipe. Some people preferred the slightly sweeter taste of the chocolate one while some preferred the bit of tartness in the plain one. So yeah, the concensus was that they both rock hardcore.
The party was much fun! I wore a pretty new outfit that I picked up in Paris (either asian or indian and I'm not sure which) and I seriously think I got more than a hundred compliments (some people gave me several throughout the night). Between that and my culinary success I was feeling quite happy and popular, which is a strange thing for me at a party where I don't know most of the people. As a result I was actually pretty outgoing for me, mingled well, and overall felt like a picture perfect party guest. I think I'm getting better at this social thing.
I left the cheesecakes there (some guests hadn't had any since there was quite the bevy of tasty things to nibble on) and will pick up the pans next Sunday when we go adventuring with Leslay and Tom in San Francisco/Chinatown to obtain some splendid tea at the very least. I keep telling myself that leaving my cheesecake behind was a really smart thing to do, but my breakfasts without it have been disappointing. Ah well, I'll live. Besides, there will be pumpkin roll at Thanksgiving which is divine in it's own right.
Yesterday we went over to Nate's dad's house and finalized the guest list and menu (very traditional) for Thanksgiving. I'll have a total of eleven people, which is not bad at all. He's doing well and continuing to get better which is always good to see.
