In the midst of my seasonal cleaning, I am tackling the vaguely sentient area of the spare room where I send unfinished projects to wither and die. I decided to finish the first project I picked up. Little did I know the horror lurking in a paper grocery sack would be the Incomplete Sock Monkey.

Well, it's done. I finished sewing the dismembered limbs to the body, recruited another sock to recut missing pieces, and scavenged buttons to replace the eyes that were nowhere to be found. We were doing okay up until the eyes, which would be the last part. I think I've created one of the most disturbing sock monkeys ever (not counting ones that people make creepy on purpose). Maybe it's that the eyes are too big and black, staring with a mental-vegetable-with-psychoses blankness... maybe it's the evil inherent in all things albino. I'm sure the lopsided tongue peeping out from the distended mouth isn't helping. He does look alright if you face him away from you, but you can't help but wonder if his eyes didn't secretly start to glow and the red lips curl into a less-than-friendly smile the moment you couldn't see his face.

Maybe clothes will help.
