Apr. 22nd, 2003 10:13 pmThe pond is looking very nice. We added the three orandas who seem happy but suddenly shy (they are usually incredible hams for attention) and we also got two shubunkin goldfish for it. All seems well... the waterlillies are happily putting out leaves, the parrots feather and waterclover are spreading out happily, and I may have talked my mom into giving us "Easter retaining wall bricks". As traditional as bunnies and chicks, I assure you.
On Sunday we got a bit done with the backyard. Dug up and transplanted the blue potato bush, and pruned it back quite a bit... hopefully it won't go into too much shock and will recover nicely - it really looks pretty since we made it a tree form instead of a big sprawling mess :) Also took out the other shrub next to the workshop, so it's all ready for rototilling. Then, we install electricity! Fun waiting to happen, yuppers...
There's a plant trade going on in San Leandro this Saturday... I'm thinking about going. I'd love to get some new things and there's plenty I can get rid of too, and meeting some fellow semi-local gardners couldn't hurt either, right? We'll see what else comes up.
Sunday I'm going to sew with
katlyn! Oooh, I just can't wait. Making a nice little Irishish dress for Ren Faire playtime :) Tomorrow I need to take the pattern off my favorite bodice. Ahhh crafty goodness... On the gardening front, I started my California poppy seeds today. Yay! The lupines will have to wait til next year, I just don't think there's enough time for them left in spring. My roses are begining to bloom and the irises are just lovely.
