Friday night we got together with Mike and Shannon for dinner. He'd been working so much we never got a chance to see them anymore, but he's got some normalish hours now. So they came out and we had mexican over at Casa Orozco. Yumm! I'd heard from friends that it was pretty good, and it is. Shannon actually went to highschool with one of the women whose restaurant it is, so that was kinda cool.
Saturday.... In the morning we did our seasonal maintenance on the pond out front (cleaning out debris, cleaning up the filter, pruning of the pond plants, etc) It looks all pretty now :) However, I was able to confirm my suspicion that one of my pretty orandas is missing. No body, so an animal must have nabbed it.... the other fishies all seem fine though, so unless we get a recurrence I'm not going to worry about it. We also picked up our anniversary gift, a new digital SLR camera. We ended up going with the Canon EOS Digital Rebel...
The we headed out to spend the afternoon with Nate's Dad... Mike & Shannon ended up coming too, which was kinda cool :) He brought some of his coin/currency collection, and we chatted, then went out to dinner at Mimi's. It's the first time he's been out to eat since the day of the accident, so it was a pretty good thing. They did the silly fight over the check thing, and the staff sent him home with extra muffins and such, it was really sweet. Came back and hit Target, where I got a couple pairs of yoga pants... I've been wanting some for awhile and am pretty happy with em. We also picked up a 6pk of violas for the front flower box and a thistle colored mum for next to our fruitless mulberry tree (we have a yellow one there that does really nicely). Cooler weather means I can actually hope the flowers will survive! I'm happy.
Today was sewing goodness! In the morning, we ran out to get a little last minute touch for Tom & Leslay's housewarming gift. We decided to let Arwen go outside on a leash, so she could see where the big cats go when I open the door. She had a good time I think, checking out all the sights and smells and textures of the front yard. She was a bit shy/scared though, and stuck mostly near the front steps. It will still be a long time til she can go out on her own, but I know she feels left out sometimes. Nate (
reboot_kid )got a few pics with the new camera, which you can see in his journal. Just using the auto settings, I'll probably be posting lots of stuff in my Fotolog ( http://www.fotolog.net/angelofrapture ) as I get a chance to play with it more.
Then Nate started mortaring bricks around the top of the aforementioned front flower box (we needed to get some drainage going there, even a little, and the added depth will be good too) and
horrorvenus came and picked me up for sewing girl goodness. We got
roisnoir and got some lunch, and then I got to work on the autumn faerie costume for October Rust.
It's coming along really well, and I think it should be easy to finish before the party. The copper underdress is done... the sheer overdress is put together... I need to finish attaching ribbon ties to the sleeves, and attaching more of the decorative stuff, like leaves and such. Then all done! I still need to finish/start the wings, which means deciding whether to go with the big wing frames I made or make some smaller ones, then attach the sheer overdress fabric to them and decorate. I *think* I know what I'm doing with my hair and makeup. We're probably going to dress Nate up as a cheesy Dracula... satinish black cape and the fake folding vampire teeth and such :) I think it will be kinda cute, the cheesiness of it appeals to me, my cousin Chris was Dracula *EVERY* Halloween for awhile there, and I have alot of good memories with that.
Baby madness from the weekend will be updated in
babyfever as usual, probably tomorrow.
