Thursday was Nate's and my fourth wedding anniversary. Traditional gifts are fruit and flowers, so all in all, here's what I got:
Bunch of crocus bulbs in purple/white colors
Bunch of tulip bulbs in red/white colors
A dozen gorgeous red roses
Two pomegranates
6pk of Columbine
A rosemary plant
A golden sage plant
A !! pineapple !! plant
Ticket to TeaseORama last weekend
I'm very excited (and very spoilt) about everything. The crocus and tulips I got awhile back, and I've got most of the crocus planted. Deciding where I want the tulips still. The columbine is going in this evening, in various spots. We decided to consolidate all the edible things into the space along the side of the house where there are currently junipers - we'll have the herbs there and eventually some vegetables, but first we need to clear it out and that has to wait til the leaning fir out front is done being chopped up and sent away in the green bin. So they will be windowsill plants for a bit :)
Nate's major gift from me is none of your business ;-)~ but I also got him a Thomas Bros mapbook that he's been wanting and grass seed and a few other random things. Wish I could have done more for him. But he's happy and that's the important thing.
It's been a good weekend - got a bit done around the house, and had Jay over yesterday... he chopped and dug up a little (around 6-8 feet high?) sapling in the backyard - it's a hideously invasive tree that I hate - so that was awesome. And he's just helpful in general. It will be good when he gets a place of his own and I can pay him back for all the help he's given us.
Earlier this afternoon I got some nice iris bulbs that Jennifer's mom was getting rid of... quite a lot of them, actually. I got the majority of them planted and just have about 6 or so needing a home. I'll probably just put the leftover iris, crocus, and tulips in some empty spot and have a slightly chaotic looking patch in the spring :) I am very thrilled, her mom has gorgeous plants and has been very generous as far as sharing them with me - she's also said she'll give me cuttings of two of her rosebushes. I need to ask Jennifer if there's something special I can bake as a thank-you.
Yesterday we traded in our dojo loaches (who used to be adorable but have taken to hiding 24/7 in their "old age" - possibly to avoid the puffers) in to Connie's and got some swordtails - 1 male and 3 females. They are gorgeous - orangey red with black on their tails.
Really have more I could talk about but think that's a long enough entry :) back outside with me!
